Brand new hotness! Didem, the Turkish Belly Dancer.

Three years ago, this woman was the definition of ‘hot’ amongst my friends and I.

So ‘hot’ was she that the very dance she performed in the video above, in the year 2003, that it was made into the dance animation for the female Night Elves in the insanely popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft. If I am not mistaken, she was only 15 or so in the video above.

All was well with Alizee, World of Warcraft and fanboys like us until one fine day, we stumbled across the following picture.

This of course shattered almost everyone’s beautiful memory of her, to which if I recall, it was indeed considered Sacrilegious on certain sites to even mention the existence of the picture above. Though in all honesty, I had long outgrown my fandom of Alizee after a few months, after being told of her, and am glad to say that the Alizee circa 2006 isn’t preggers looking anymore, though she seemed to have lost most of her initial charm that once reeled us in.

Moving along now, I think I may have just discovered the next ‘Alizee’, if you could term it as such.

I present to you, Didem! The Turkish belly dancer!

There isn’t much I know of this particular performer other than the facts I’ve mentioned above but from what I can gather, she’s very popular in Turkey. As for the rest of the world…Hmmm…

To be honest, I thought that the performance above by Didem was extremely mesmerizing and of course not in a perversed manner. It was simply put, to me, just beautiful. The way she moves reminded me of a snake actually but you have got to imagine the amount of muscle control that’s necessary to actually consistently perform like this. It is in itself, kind of mind blowing. Come to think of it, it doesn’t even look as if she broke a sweat during her whole performance!

I also found that the music that she was dancing to to be pretty amazing to say the least, it sounded so extremely exotic and exciting that I am now currently trying to find the songs composed by the late Abdul Halim Hafiz, an Egyptian composer, which will prove to be an extreme challenge in itself.

Initially, I would have thought that belly dancing in itself would be extremely boring but the video above greatly proved otherwise. It is also said that what Didem performs isn’t truly ‘traditional’ belly dancing, in the simplest of sense, but actually has a slight fusion of western dancing styles such a ballet. Though I say this but I would be hard pressed to even tell which part of the routine is such.

But who really cares about that, right? She’s hot and sometimes, that’s really all that matters.
