Greetings! I’ld like to ask you if you could give me some facts bout her, as there’s almost nothing in english. Just some basics, like where she was born, how she came into dancing and main achievements, if it won’t boher you.
Thanks!
Some quick points I translated from the article:
• Born in 1986 in the Gaziosmanpaşa district of Istanbul
• Her roots are “Rumeli” - i.e. “European Side Turk” as her mother’s side from Selanik (Modern Thesaloniki in Greece) and her father’s side Yugoslav Turk.
• trained with instructor Sema Yıldız, stage performing by 13
• dropped out of elementary school to work and earn money for the family
• nickname was “lastik” (rubbery) as a child because she was so flexible
• “discovered” after performing at a local wedding and henna night and word got around to Ibrahim Tatlises, star of his own popular variety show
• has ambitions of going back to school and completing university, expaning beyong bellydancing, and believes that if she had not pursued dancing, she would’ve gone on to be a gymnast

I agree with the both of you, Didem is indeed amazing isnt she?
Sadly, I too am as lost as the both of you as to her actual background and history.
I’ll probably do some research and hopefully post my findings in a later post. Anyhow, thanks for visiting!
I’ll post more Didem in the future.
